CAF confirms Peseiro Super Eagles’ provisional AFCON 2023 squad

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially revealed the 41-man provisional squad selected by Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro, for the upcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). The roster was published on CAF's official website early on Wednesday.

Among the notable inclusions in the provisional squad are three local players: Ojo Olorunleke, Amas Obasogie, and Christian Nwoke, showcasing a blend of talent from both local and international football.

Peseiro is expected to finalize his squad and submit the official list to CAF by the latest deadline of January 3. As per the decision made by the CAF Organising Committee of the Africa Cup of Nations, all 24 participating teams will be allowed to have a final squad of 27 players.

It's noteworthy that the registration of the additional four players on the final list is an option rather than an obligation, providing flexibility for the teams in their selections.

The highly anticipated tournament is scheduled to take place from January 13 to February 11, 2024, across various Ivorian cities, including Abidjan, Bouake, Korhogo, San Pedro, and Yamoussoukro. Football enthusiasts can look forward to witnessing top-notch competition as nations vie for supremacy in one of Africa's most prestigious football events.
